Once opened, how should PET Evaporated Milk be stored?

After opening, it is recommended to pour the evaporated milk into a clean container and store covered in the refrigerator. The evaporated milk should be used within 2 to 3 days.

What is the difference between PET Evaporated Milk and PET Skimmed Evaporated Milk?

PET Evaporated Milk is a homogenized concentrate made from fresh, whole cow's milk with a little more than half of the natural water removed. It is fortified with Vitamin D.

PET Evaporated Skimmed Milk is also a homogenized concentrate made from fresh whole milk with half of the water and 99.5% of the butterfat removed. It is fortified with Vitamins A and D.

What is the shelf life of my unopened can of PET Evaporated Milk?

PET Evaporated Milk should be used within one year after the manufacture date. The can should be stored unopened and at room temperature.

PET Evaporated Skim Milk should be used within 9 months after the manufacture date. The can should be sealed and stored at room temperature.

What's the difference between PET Evaporated Milk and sweetened condensed milk?

PET Evaporated Milk is milk which has 60% of the water removed. The high heat process of fortifying it with vitamins and sterilizing it give it a caramelized flavor and a darker color. This concentrated mixture is more nutritious than fresh milk.

Sweetened condensed milk also has about 60% of the water removed. During the evaporation process, it's pasteurized with sugar to help sterilize it. Vitamin A is also added, but no other nutrients are required.
